Act No. 404/2011 of residence of Aliens (hereinafter the ,,Act”) allows to obtain temporary stay permit to an alien for the purpose of:
- undertaking business,
- employment,
- studying,
- specific purposes e. g. lecturing activities, athletic purposes etc.,
- research and development purposes,
- maintaining family unity,
- fulfilment of official duties by civil units of Armed Forces,
- for person with status of Slovak expatriate (temporary residence of third country national who has been granted a status of Slovak living abroad),
- for person with status of long term admitted residency in another EU member state.

If you are interested in granting of temporary residence in Slovak republic, you need to prepare following documents:
- valid travel document (passport or equivalent document that is internationally accepted),
- 2 current photographs of face, format: 3 x 3,5 cm ,
- Document not older than 90 days that confirms his/her integrity, extract from the Crime register of the country of national of foreigner,
- documents not older than 90 days that confirms purpose of stay, financial coverage of the stay, secured accommodation in Slovak republic

Temporary stay permit is issued in form of ID card containing an electric chip with information about its holder and with data about temporary stay in Slovak republic. Temporary stay permit can be manufactured expressly in 2 days for administrative fee 24,50 EUR.
